The XR Apartment Configurator is a sales tool NMY developed for housing companies. It assists sales staff and clients with the configuration of apartment interiors, which can be previewed in VR or via a touch application. I worked on the project as the lead designer.

Designed to be used in a showroom or with a portable version on-site, the XR Apartment Configurator allows sales staff of housing companies to configure apartment interiors on the fly. During conversations with customers, the configuration can be previewed via a real-time 3D visualization. Various kitchen and bathroom amenities as well as features of the interior design, like the flooring, can be configured according to the client's wishes. The result can be previewed via a VR experience with nearly photo-realistic visual quality. That way, clients can virtually walk around in their newly configured apartment and get a much better understanding of what their choices would look like in the finished building.
Using the consultant app, sales staff can select items out of a product portfolio to add to the configuration. In a showroom situation, the selection of flooring options for example could be accompanied by looking at real samples of the materials.
A VR experience allows customers to evaluate their configuration as if it was already installed in reality. The virtual apartment can be toured with or without a set of example furniture, that allows for a more authentic impression of the accommodation.
For customers that don't feel comfortable wearing a VR headset, the apartment visualization can also be presented via a touch application. Here, users also have the ability to access detailed information on configurable items like the vendor, available sizes, or a description.
To control the interactive experiences and guide through the consulting session, sales staff use the Consultant App. It provides a customer management solution and all tools needed for the configuration process. After finishing the configuration, a summary and offer can be generated to be sent to the customer.
Configurable items are categorized and easy to find. For each item, additional information like the vendor, available sizes or a description can be displayed.
The VR and touch experience can be started and operated easily from the Consultant App. Synchronization of the current configuration session between the app and an experience station is achieved via simply scanning a QR code.
To make the VR experience as simple as possible, customers don't have to navigate through the virtual apartment on their own, but instead can be guided via the iPad app. Various suitable teleport locations in the virtual apartment can be selected.
Changes made to the configuration using the Consultant App are visualized in the VR experience in real-time.
